Green Card - a guarantee of security abroad
Green Card, a type of insurance that belongs to international insurance contracts. It is an insurance policy for motor third party liability of citizens in 48 countries of the world. The purpose of such insurance is to compulsorily indemnify third parties who suffer damage caused by the driver of a vehicle to third parties who have been injured as a result of the driver's actions. The limits of liability are set based on the regulations of the country of entry. The Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine is the guarantor of payments under such insurance, which in turn draws up contracts with insurance companies.

Green Card insurance is required for trucks, cars, passenger vehicles, motorcycles and scooters registered to individuals who are citizens of Ukraine or to companies with legal entity status. A Green Card for a car or other vehicle is issued for a period of 15 days to 1 year. The cost of insurance depends on the duration of your stay abroad. The shorter the stay, the lower the cost of insurance.
Such insurance is required for travelling to Europe, Russia, Belarus and Moldova. At the level of legislation, the card is valid in the following countries: Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, Israel, Morocco, Tunisia. Each country independently determines the limits for each victim in the event of a road traffic accident and for the insured vehicle, including the total limits for these parameters per year.

Terms and conditions of the insurance contract
The Green Card is issued on the territory of Ukraine by licensed insurance companies in the original form together with a copy of the card. The person leaving the country is obliged to present this document upon request to the border guards of both countries when crossing the border. In the event of a road traffic accident caused by his/her own fault, the culprit of the road traffic accident must leave a copy of such insurance in the territory of the foreign state. The original insurance certificate always remains with the vehicle owner and is never transferred to third parties.
Upon occurrence of the insured event, the insured person must immediately notify his/her insurance agent, who will further coordinate all subsequent actions of the insurance policy holder regarding such issues as: obtaining a relevant notification from the patrol service of the country in which the person is located, obtaining contact details of victims and witnesses, photo and video recording of the scene. If a road traffic accident is caused by the fault of a Ukrainian, he/she should not give a copy of his/her green card to anyone.
Documents required to apply for a Green Card
You should buy a Green Card insurance policy when planning a trip abroad if you do not want to allow a situation where your car will be in the territory adjacent to the border until your return. Such a document is mandatory in order to cross the border with your own vehicle, just like your international passport. In the absence of such an insurance policy, this is the basis for the refusal of the border service to cross the state border with such a car.
